Professor Dimitrios Lamprou (Ph.D. MBA) is a subject matter expert in emerging (bio)pharmaceutical technologies for drug delivery systems and medical implants.
Dimitrios, has been recognized as world leader in Printing & Microfluidics, with PubMed-based algorithms placed him in the top 0.01% of scholars in the world writing about Printing, and in the top 0.07% of scholars in the world writing about microfluidics, over the past 10 years. Moreover, PubMed-based algorithms placed him in the top 0.6% of scholars in the world writing about nanofibers. Dimitrios, has also been named in the Stanford list of World's Top 2% of scientists, for several consecutive years, for research in Pharmaceutics and Biomedical Engineering.
Dimitrios, is the author of over 170 peer-reviewed publications, has over 450 conference abstracts, has given over 200 Invited Talks in institutions and conferences across the world, and has secure Funding in excess of £5M. His research and academic leadership have been recognized in a range of awards, including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Science Award, Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance (SULSA) Leaders Scheme Award, and Doctor Honoris Causa Award by Semmelweis University (Hungary).
Dimitrios, is Full Professor (Chair) of Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing at Queen's University Belfast, Visiting Professor at University of Pavia (Italy), Visiting Professor at University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy), Chair at United Kingdom and Ireland Controlled Release Society (UKICRS), Co-I at EPSRC Network Bio-Effective Surface Treatment (BEST), Member of the British Standards Institute (BSI) AMT/8 committee for Additive Manufacturing, Section Editor for Heliyon (Pharmaceutical Sciences), Section Editor-in-Chief for Pharmaceutics (Physical Pharmacy and Formulation), Associate Editor at Innovation and Emerging Technologies, Associate Editor at Frontiers in Medical Technology – Nano-Based Drug Delivery Section, Guest Editor for 30+ Special Issues in International Refereed Journals and Editorial Board Member for 5+ Refereed Journals. Dimitrios has also a number of important University & School roles, most noticeably in the area of Internationalization and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
